My name is Edward van Vliet. I am 26 years old and I live in Hoofddorp, North Holland, the Netherlands.

A fun fact: I was born in San Francisco, California, USA, and at the age of three I moved to the Netherlands together with my parents, where I grew up.

In July 2025, I graduated from the Communication and Multimedia Design (CMD) program with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), known in Dutch as Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA). During my studies in CMD, I mainly specialized in UX/UI, Product, Visual, and Service Design.

In addition, I developed a strong fascination for innovative, emerging technologies, such as 3D (CAD) design and modeling, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, VR, AR, MR, and Big Data (data visualization).
Both in the workplace and online (hybrid and/or remote), I am a reliable colleague who is usually punctual and always makes a strong effort to meet commitments and deadlines. I come across as a calm, social, and friendly person. At the same time, I am enthusiastic, eager to learn, enjoy thinking outside the box.

When it comes to serious business, I can be highly critical, solution-oriented, and always looking for improvements. I am a true team player, but I also work well independently.
I would like to further develop myself in UX/UI, Product, and Service Design, because I enjoy making users happy by enabling them to navigate in the most intuitive and user-friendly way possible. My goal is to provide as many people as possible with a pleasant user experience, both online and in real life. I have a strong passion for clean design — or as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe famously said: "Less is more!".

Finally, I dream of contributing my skills to future projects that can make a significant impact in areas such as modernization, automation, accessibility, inclusion and/or sustainability.
Free Time
In my spare time, I play table tennis at a competitive level.
I compete at a fairly high, semi-pro level, namely in the national second division for men. Of course, this also requires regular training — I usually practice about two to three times a week to maintain my level. I have always found table tennis to be an enjoyable sport for both young and old, and I also play it to stay fit.

In addition to table tennis, I am also a big fan of football (soccer) and tennis. In short, I am definitely a sports enthusiast!
Music
Besides sports, I also enjoy jamming on my keyboard in my free time. I usually play covers and well‑known classical pieces for some relaxation. I have a great love for music and also enjoy listening to it.

For me, music is a source of both inspiration and relaxation. I enjoy exploring many different genres, ranging from classical music to modern pop, alternative, (soft) rock, ’70s and ’80s music, soul, funk, disco, EDM, dance, house, and R&B. I also maintain a SoundCloud page (Edwards Music ™ SoundCloud), where I regularly (re)post and share my favourite tracks with others.

Playing and jamming on my keyboard helps me unwind and fuels my creativity. These musical moments give me the chance to clear my mind and recharge with new energy for my work and daily activities.
Aviation
Finally, I still have a passion for aviation too. Before my CMD studies, I even pursued a Bachelor's degree in Aviation at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS/HvA). Although I just missed completing the program due to one specific course and a few other circumstances, my passion for airplanes has never faded. My father also works as an engine mechanic in the engine shop at KLM, so in a way, my passion for aviation is in my blood.
