During my four-month internship at iO Digital Agency, I worked together with fellow interns Joppe Koops and Mohini Ramtahalsing to create a prototype in Figma for the Emerce Events case — an events app designed for corporate use. Although Emerce already had an existing events app, it was outdated and many features no longer functioned properly. Our task was therefore to design and develop a renewed and improved version of the app, supported by preliminary research.

In the end, we completed the full design process — from scratch with a Paper Prototype, progressing to a Lo‑Fi prototype, and ultimately creating the interactive (clickable) Hi‑Fi prototype.
In the preliminary research, we conducted a competitive analysis focusing primarily on existing, comparable apps that do function well. From this, we identified several useful elements/features that we could potentially incorporate into our redesign of the Events app for our client Emerce.
So, we then created an ‘old‑school’ Paper Prototype using pencil (or pen) and paper, and immediately tested it with two iO employees at the iO Campus office in Amsterdam. This resulted in several valuable feedback points that we incorporated into the Lo‑Fi prototype in Figma.
Based on this input, we carried out another iteration, which ultimately resulted in the Hi‑Fi prototype. We also made this Hi‑Fi prototype fully interactive (clickable) in Figma using the Prototype workspace. Ideally, we would have conducted an additional round of testing with several participants, but since the internship had already ended by that time, this was no longer possible. After the handover, the UX department of iO continued developing the project and the prototype.

We were able to present our final Hi‑Fi version to the client of this Emerce Events case. This presentation also resulted in several useful tips and improvement points that the UX department at iO could build on, after which they would likely carry out one final iteration.
Here is the link to the Figma file containing the paper prototype, the Lo‑Fi prototype, and the Hi‑Fi prototype of the renewed Emerce Events app: Figma Emerce Events App.
I've also included a link to the Miro board for the Emerce Events App, which is also shown below in the screenshots of the corresponding board. This board contains, among other things, the preliminary research, the sitemap, the test plans, the test results, and the feedback points we received from, among others, Mats de Wilde (CRO/UX), Eddy Boeve (CRO/UX), Donnie Muller (Team Lead Creation), and Nils Gerritsen (Account Manager).
